Tommy Fury faces Eddie Hall tonight as fight night details confirmed

The 108-pound weight difference between Tommy Fury and Eddie Hall is the defining feature of Saturday night’s heavyweight exhibition in Manchester, a discrepancy so vast it has given the bout its billing as “Beauty vs The Beast.”

The former World’s Strongest Man tipped the scales at 325.6 pounds at Friday’s weigh-in, while Fury – a career cruiserweight – came in at a career-heaviest 217.5 pounds. Hall is not subject to any contracted weight restrictions, meaning he is likely to be even heavier by the time the first bell rings at the AO Arena.

The numbers alone tell a story of two athletes operating in entirely different physical realms. Hall, who during his peak strongman career regularly weighed more than 440 pounds, was still at 334 pounds for his only previous foray into combat sports – a mixed martial arts fight last year. Fury, by contrast, typically campaigns between 175 and 200 pounds and weighed around 183 pounds for his most high-profile victories, against Jake Paul and KSI. This is territory the younger half-brother of former world heavyweight champion Tyson Fury has never occupied before, making the spectacle as much an experiment in physics as a contest of skill.

The implications of that weight gap are central to the fight’s dynamic. Hall, who lost his sole previous boxing match – a six-rounder in Dubai against fellow strongman Hafthor Bjornsson in 2022 – was knocked down twice that night despite weighing 313 pounds against Bjornsson’s 335. He knows his only realistic path to victory is to land a single, fight-ending blow. He has acknowledged the immense technical and speed disadvantages he faces against a professional boxer 11 years his junior, but believes his power can deliver a shock knockout. Fury, who holds an undefeated 11-0 professional record, has undergone surgery for a persistent hand injury that hampered him for years. Now apparently free of that problem, his game plan is expected to revolve around a sharp jab and disciplined range control, ensuring he never stands still long enough for Hall’s raw strength to become decisive.

The Exhibition Rules

Saturday’s main event is a six-round heavyweight exhibition, meaning it will not count on Fury’s unblemished record. Each round lasts just two minutes, and both men will wear 14-ounce gloves – smaller than the 16-ounce gloves often used in exhibition bouts, but larger than the 10-ounce gloves typical in professional heavyweight title fights. The aim is to blunt Hall’s power while still permitting meaningful exchanges, though the shorter round duration also favours the less experienced strongman, reducing the period he must survive against a slicker boxer.

Card action begins at 6pm BST, with the main event ring walks expected around 10:30pm. The event is being broadcast live on DAZN via a standalone pay-per-view costing £14.99. Fans can also bundle it with Jarron “Boots” Ennis’s unified super-welterweight title challenge against Xander Zayas in Brooklyn on June 27 for a combined £35.99. DAZN Ultimate Tier subscribers, who pay £24.99 a month, receive the event as part of their subscription. The platform is available on smart TVs, phones, games consoles, laptops and tablets.

Boxing gloves and a ring prepared for the Misfits Boxing event undercard

The Misfits Boxing undercard features a mix of crossover fighters, including two-time Olympic taekwondo gold medallist Jade Jones, who makes her second professional boxing appearance. Also on the bill are Anthony Taylor versus Matt “The Jedi” Floyd, Swarmz versus BDave, Ibiza Final Boss against Jordan McCann, Adam Brooks against Rahim Pardesi, Lil Bellsy against The CrAsian, Sheena Bathory against Tina Snows, and Khallas Karim against Luke Nevin. One scheduled bout was scrapped after self-proclaimed “Hardest Man in the UK” Charlie Robert – also known as “Big Stacks” – was forced to withdraw following an altercation with Tommy and Tyson Fury’s brother Shane at the open workouts this week. The incident also involved rapper Jordan McCann, who remains on the card.

The Verdict

Bookmakers have installed Fury as a heavy favourite at 2/7, with Hall at 5/2. The expectation is that Fury will win on points, using his jab and footwork to outwork Hall over six two-minute rounds and avoid any risks in close quarters. Hall, for his part, intends to make his colossal size advantage count and believes that a single clean punch can overturn the odds. But the gulf in experience, technique and speed – not to mention the 108 pounds separating them – means Saturday’s contest will test whether raw power can truly overcome a professional boxer who knows exactly how to keep the beast at bay.
