Lloyds announces closure of 95 additional bank branches across the UK

Lloyds Banking Group is to shut 95 more bank branches across the UK in a further wave of closures scheduled between May 2026 and March 2027, according to The Independent.
The planned shutdowns will see 53 Lloyds Bank, 31 Halifax and 11 Bank of Scotland sites close their doors.
This move comes as the cash access network Link said 14 new locations will receive a banking hub to safeguard cash services, with these shared spaces offering facilities like withdrawals, deposits and bill payments through staff from different banks on different days.
Lloyds did not specify how many jobs are affected, but confirmed all staff at the closing branches will be offered roles at other sites or within the wider business.
The announcement marks the latest round of cuts, following 49 closures set to be completed by October and 136 announced around a year ago.
Once all previously-confirmed closures are finished, the group’s total branch network will stand at 610.
A Lloyds spokeswoman said: “Customers want the freedom to bank in the way that works for them and we offer more choice and ways to manage money than ever before.”
She added: “From our leading apps and 24/7 messaging service to local banking options like our community bankers, PayPoint and access to all of our Lloyds, Halifax and Bank of Scotland branches, we’re giving our customers the flexibility to bank wherever and whenever they need us.”
