£500,000 pledged by NB Tyres in County Durham for expansion and new roles

A County Durham automotive firm has bolstered its workforce to over 50 staff following a near-£500,000 expansion drive, creating a dozen new permanent roles and opening two service centres to meet growing demand across the North East.
The independent tyre and auto service provider, NB Tyres, also known as New Bridgegate Tyres, has invested throughout the past year to establish new bases in Newcastle and Middlesbrough while centralising its operations at its Durham head office. The Middlesbrough site, opened at 2 Wilfred Whitfield Way, Tees AMP, in August 2025, created five of the new positions.
With these additions, the company now operates a total of five vehicle service centres across the region, having existing outlets in Birtley, Barnard Castle, and Newton Aycliffe within County Durham. The centres offer tyre replacement, vehicle servicing, laser wheel alignment, and specialist services for trucks and agricultural vehicles.
To enhance responsiveness, NB Tyres has significantly expanded its mobile servicing fleet, adding six new fitting vans and a 12-tonne logistics vehicle capable of delivering up to 200 tyres in bulk directly to business, fleet, and agricultural sites. The company now runs 26 vehicles operating around the clock, supporting a 24/7 tyre service across the region.
Director James Bowman stated that the 2025 investment was focused on “building the foundations for sustainable growth here in the North East,” allowing the company to scale up while maintaining high service levels. The 13 new roles across service, management, and operations are designed to improve training, consistency, and communication, with plans to create more jobs in future.
Fellow director Guy Wilks, a former British Rally Champion who competed in series like the World Rally Championship, emphasised the advantage of being an independent provider. “With our expanded team and fleet, we now have the scale and capability to support every type of customer across the North East,” he said, highlighting the ability to tailor services.
The expansion comes as NB Tyres reported a 20% year-on-year revenue growth in 2025, which the company attributes to increased demand from fleet and commercial customers alongside ongoing retail expansion.
According to its Companies House registration, NB Tyres Limited is incorporated in England and Wales, with its nature of business including the wholesale trade of motor vehicle parts and accessories. Customer feedback has noted efficient service, with one review on ProductReview.com.au in May 2025 praising competitive pricing for Falken Wildpeak tyres and the use of a torque wrench, though this appraisal appears linked to a location outside the UK.
