Jane App rolls out secure AI scribe for UK private healthcare to save clinicians time

AI Scribe, a new feature from the practice management platform Jane, is promising UK health and wellness practitioners a saving of up to 30% of the time they currently spend on clinical documentation. The tool, now available to more than 1,200 UK clinics already using Jane, allows clinicians to securely record sessions or dictate notes after an appointment, with fully formatted clinical notes generated within minutes.
Time Savings in Practice
The time-saving potential is significant. Pilot data from Great Ormond Street Hospital’s digital innovation hub, GOSH DRIVE, recorded a 51.7% reduction in documentation time at the individual clinician level. Jane’s own clinical literature, evaluating AI-powered medical transcription systems across 4,500 clinics in the United States, documented savings of up to 30% over a five-month period. Some practitioners using the system have reported reductions in charting time as high as 75%.
Tom White, UK Product Lead at Jane App, said the demand for such a feature had been “clear and consistent” from UK practitioners. “Documentation is one of the biggest drains on practitioner time, and for many clinic owners it also means lost revenue,” he said. “Well-integrated AI capabilities are increasingly influencing clinic software switching decisions and we recognise that clinicians want to spend less time on paperwork and more time with patients. AI Scribe is our answer to that, giving that time back — letting practitioners be more present with patients, reduce end-of-day admin, and focus on growing their practice rather than completing admin.”
Integrated Workflow, Not a Separate Tool
Jane has placed significant emphasis on the fact that AI Scribe is not a bolt-on third-party application but is embedded directly into its existing practice management system. That system already covers online booking, scheduling, clinical documentation, patient communications, invoicing and payment processing — meaning practitioners can manage their entire administrative workflow, including AI-assisted documentation, from a single platform and a single subscription.
The feature is available as an add-on costing £15 per practitioner per month for unlimited notes. To allow clinics to trial it before committing, each practitioner receives five free AI-generated notes every month. Jane’s base practice management plans range from CAD$54 a month (Balance) to CAD$99 a month (Thrive) for a single practitioner, with additional seat fees for each new hire who books appointments. AI Scribe also supports 1:1 online appointments, enabling transcription of telehealth sessions directly within the platform.
Security, Compliance and Data Protection
Security has been a core consideration in the design of AI Scribe. Jane is a registered Class I medical device with the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA), the UK’s medical device regulator, and the platform is built with UK GDPR-compliant architecture. Session recordings and clinical chart drafts are treated as special category health data under UK GDPR, and their processing for direct patient care falls under Article 9(2)(h).
All customer data from UK clinics is stored exclusively in UK-based regional data centres, specifically in London, England, ensuring data sovereignty. The platform uses industry-standard encryption — 128-bit protection for data in transit and 256-bit encryption for data at rest, the same standards used by the financial sector. Jane also confirms that patient data and transcripts are never used to train AI models, maintaining patient privacy and control.
Market Impact and Expansion
The launch marks the next phase of Jane’s UK expansion. The company, which has been operating since 2012 and supports over 200,000 practitioners globally, is headquartered in Vancouver, Canada. AI Scribe will primarily target acupuncturists, chiropractors, physiotherapists and osteopaths — disciplines where Jane already holds significant traction — but the software is applicable to the full range of allied health professionals.
The move reflects a broader trend in the UK private wellness and therapy sector, which is increasingly turning to technology to address persistent efficiency gaps. Other practice management software providers are also integrating AI features: competitors such as Upheal offer AI-native documentation, while platforms including Noterro, CareCloud and Carepatron are incorporating AI tools for transcription and data management. SPRY PT, another alternative, includes an AI Scribe feature in its base plan for insurance-based outpatient rehab clinics. AI Scribe is now available to UK practitioners via Jane’s website.
