Teen hospitalised following Beckton Park DLR stabbing

A 17-year-old boy has been arrested following an assault and robbery in which an 18-year-old man was stabbed in east London.

The suspect was detained in the Barking area and remains in police custody on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm, the Metropolitan Police confirmed.

Officers were called at around 5pm on Wednesday 13 May to reports that a man had been assaulted and robbed by three men on Parry Avenue, E6. The Metropolitan Police said the victim, an 18-year-old, suffered stab injuries. The London Ambulance Service received a separate call at 5.03pm reporting a stabbing at the junction of Parry Avenue and Savage Gardens, E6, close to Beckton Park DLR station. An ambulance crew attended the scene, treated the patient and took him to a local hospital. His injuries were not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing, and he has since been discharged.

The incident involved three men, but only one has been arrested so far. Police have not released descriptions of the other two suspects, who remain outstanding. The Metropolitan Police have identified robbery and knife crime as priorities in the East Ham area – which includes Parry Avenue – and have said they are conducting high-visibility and plain‑clothes patrols in response.

An investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101, quoting CAD 5667/13MAY, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
