Euston Station murder probe after 29-year-old shot while in vehicle

Police are working to identify and apprehend an attacker who shot dead a 26-year-old man as he sat in a car near London’s Euston Station.
Detective Chief Inspector Joanna Yorke, who is leading the murder investigation, moved immediately to address local anxieties. “We are aware of the concern that this will cause for the local community, and want to reassure them that we are working hard to identify the attacker and bring them to justice,” she said. The victim’s next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.
Hunt for suspect captured on CCTV
The investigation is centred on a shooting that occurred at approximately 11 p.m. on Saturday, March 28, 2026, on Chalton Street in Camden. The victim was shot multiple times while inside a white Nissan Juke. Crucial CCTV footage captured a single suspect, who arrived and fled the scene on a bicycle, firing several shots during the attack. The use of a bicycle suggests a calculated attempt to facilitate a swift escape and blend into the urban environment of central London, with the location close to major transport hubs like King’s Cross, St Pancras, and the British Library.
DCI Yorke, who has previously led other complex murder investigations, has issued an urgent appeal for information. She urged anyone with details to contact police via 101, online, or to speak anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers.
Community calls for protection amid fear
The shooting has ignited fresh concerns among residents of Chalton Street, an area already described by some as having a troubled history with violence. One resident, Shamim, stated the street “has always had a bad record about this… a lot of violence,” adding that “a lot of residents don’t feel safe any more.” He emphasised the need for “more protection” due to the high volume of passersby, including tourists, noting that “a lot of people are scared.”
This sense of unease echoes a community impact noted in a previous report from December 2025, following another shooting incident in Euston, which created a “significant impact on the local community, creating a sense of unease and concern among residents.” That earlier incident led to increased vigilance and community-led support efforts.
The latest murder occurs against a backdrop of persistently high crime rates in and around Euston Station. Official statistics have repeatedly identified Euston as one of the most crime-plagued railway stations in the UK. In the 2024-25 period, it recorded over 1,500 offences, the highest serious crime record nationally, including the highest numbers for violent offences, drugs crimes, and theft of passengers’ property. Broader crime data for the Euston area shows a safety score of 40 out of 100, with ‘theft from the person’ being the most common crime, and rates generally higher than borough and national averages.
The location has also been the scene of other serious violent incidents. In a shocking case in January 2023, a drive-by shooting outside St Aloysius Church on Phoenix Road, Euston—described as a “senseless act of violence”—left a seven-year-old girl with life-threatening injuries and several other mourners wounded. That attack led to calls for therapy for affected families and increased police presence, highlighting a recurring theme of community trauma following violence in the area.
