Bill Belichick addresses Hall of Fame rejection with Jordon Hudson present

Bill Belichick was pictured on a conference call this week, all smiles, as he conducted media duties for the University of North Carolina. The image, shared by his 24-year-old girlfriend Jordon Hudson with the caption “All smiles with the Irish media”, offered a relaxed glimpse of the legendary coach firmly entrenched in his new collegiate role, preparing for UNC’s season opener against TCU in Dublin this August.
The moment of apparent levity comes just weeks after a seismic snub in the football world. Belichick, the architect of the New England Patriots’ six-Super-Bowl dynasty, was unexpectedly omitted from the Pro Football Hall of Fame’s Class of 2026. Despite being widely considered a first-ballot certainty in his first year of eligibility, he failed to secure the required 40 votes from the 50-person selection committee. The Hall of Fame has stated it will take action if any voting bylaws, such as the sharing of private deliberations, were violated.
A Focused Response to a Stunning Omission
When asked about the snub at UNC’s first day of spring practice, Belichick’s response was characteristically focused on the task at hand. “No, I’m focused on coaching this team and focused on getting Carolina football to the highest level I can,” he stated. “That’s what I’ve always… I focus about what I can do. Things that are out of my control, I don’t worry about.”

The decision sent shockwaves through the sport. Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes called the situation “insane,” while Hall of Fame coach Jimmy Johnson declared it “WRONG.” Some voters have suggested that the long-shadow of the 2007 “Spygate” scandal, where the Patriots were penalised for filming opponents’ signals, may have influenced the ballot. Belichick’s record is unparalleled: a 266-121 record over 24 years with the Patriots, making him one of the most successful coaches in NFL history.
His transition to college football, where he signed a five-year deal with UNC in December 2024, marks a return to a realm he knows well; his father, Steve Belichick, was once an assistant coach for the Tar Heels. His debut season ended with a 4-8 record, but his attention is now fixed on the future in Chapel Hill, where Hudson is often present. Belichick has described their relationship as both “personal and professional,” and there have been reports of her advising the program’s social media team.
A Pointed Fashion Statement
The Hall of Fame omission did not go unnoticed by those closest to Belichick either. In the wake of the news, Jordon Hudson was photographed snuggling with the 73-year-old coach at a Tar Heels basketball game, sporting a casual t-shirt that carried a loaded message. The shirt featured the logo for “Orchids of Asia Day Spa,” a massage parlour in Jupiter, Florida.

To NFL followers, this was a clear, sly dig at Patriots owner Robert Kraft, Belichick’s former employer of 23 years, who also recently missed out on Hall of Fame induction. The reference stems from a 2019 legal controversy in which Kraft was ensnared. In February of that year, Kraft and others were charged in a multi-county investigation into massage parlours. Police in Jupiter had secretly installed video cameras in the lobbies and rooms of spas, including Orchids of Asia, and stated the recordings showed Kraft and other men engaging in sex acts with women and paying them. Police records indicated Kraft visited the spa twice within 24 hours in January 2019.
Kraft pleaded not guilty to the solicitation charges. Subsequently, a Florida appeals court ruled that the secretly recorded video footage was inadmissible as evidence, finding that the surveillance violated privacy rights and involved unlawful police tactics. Prosecutors then dropped the charges against him.

The relationship between Kraft and Belichick, which yielded unparalleled success, had deteriorated in later years, notably over the departure of quarterback Tom Brady in 2020. Kraft was said to be keen on retaining the legendary player, while Belichick’s reported desire to move on caused friction. The pair ultimately parted ways, under seemingly bitter terms, in January 2024 after a dismal 4-13 season.
For her part, Hudson has recently tasted competitive success of her own, winning a cheerleading competition at the Cheer For Charity Grand National Championships in Virginia Beach. She marked the victory on social media with a pointed caption: “#GOLDDIGGER GOT #PAID,” before adding, “#IDigGoldMedals.”
