Cunningham counters critics over ‘pro-hate’ allegations against Reform

Laila Cunningham, Reform UK’s candidate for London mayor, has rejected accusations that her party is “pro-hate” and declared she will march for gay rights, while reaffirming her controversial stance on the burqa, as described by GB News.

In an exclusive interview with GB News presenter Gloria De Piero, Cunningham addressed criticism of Reform UK and her own past remarks, stating that individuals with racist views should “jog on” rather than back her campaign.

She cited personal experiences as shaping her position on gay rights, revealing to GB News that people close to her were arrested and tortured in Egypt for their sexuality. “My best friends are gay and I will always march for gay rights,” she said, but clarified this does not extend to transgender rights.

Cunningham asserted that Reform is focused on prioritising the people of Britain, welcoming anyone who loves the country irrespective of origin, faith, or who they love. “We’re really not about hate,” she emphasised.

When questioned about those holding vile or racist opinions, the candidate responded bluntly: “Oh. Jog on,” adding that the party does not condone demonising or hating any groups.
